Overview

The WiNRADiO WR-CC1PPS-100 Coherence Clock & 1PPS Kit fulfils a dual role of a coherent clock generator and a 1PPS input interface, making it possible to easily couple multiple WR-G35DDCi receivers to form a coherent receiver group, as well as providing a 1PPS input for applications requiring time stamping or other similar applications.

The kit consists of a single Sampling clock generator board, eights SMA coaxial cables for distribution of the 100 MHz coherent sampling clock, eight digital synchronization cables for synchronization of the receivers, one digital synchronization cable for the 1PPS signal, and other kit accessories. The Sampling clock generator board contains a high-stability low-phase noise 100 MHz local oscillator, power amplifier and power splitter with eight coherent outputs to provide a coherent sampling clock for up to eight WR-G35DDCi receivers - which must have the ADC Clock Input Option (/CR) fitted. Moreover, two sampling clock generator boards can be tied together to provide a coherent sampling clock for up to sixteen receivers.

The passive output power splitter provides a very good passive (uncalibrated) output of the sampling clock and the local oscillator provides very low phase noise. These features make the kit (together with the WR-G35DDCi receivers) ideal for professional applications such as the estimation of direction of arrival (DoA, DF), beam-forming, smart antennas and other application requiring coherent multichannel reception and processing of radio signals.

The WiNRADiO WR-CC1PPS-100 Coherence Clock & 1PPS Kit is especially suitable for use with the WiNRADiO WR-G35DDCi Excalibur Ultra (WR-G35DDCi) - a high performance, direct-sampling, software-defined ultra-wideband shortwave receiver with a frequency range from 1 kHz to 45 MHz. Physically, the Coherent clock generator board of the kit installs into the lowest PCIe slot of a PC followed by up to eight WR-G35DDCi receivers, providing a neat and compact coherent multichannel receiver solution.

For applications where multiple WR-G35DDCi/CR receivers must be installed into separate dedicated computers and operated in coherent mode, the Extended Topology Configuration (ETC) hardware option can be used.
