WiNRADiO Digital Bridge™ Virtual Sound Card

The WiNRADiO Digital Bridge™ Virtual Sound Card is a software option designed to transfer digitized audio signal streams exclusively from the WiNRADiO G3-series receivers to other applications. It does so by creating a Windows multimedia driver with a pair of Wave In/Out Windows devices.

The WiNRADiO receiver software can send an audio stream to the Out device, and any other application can then access this stream from the In device. This allows third-party applications that normally rely on a standard sound card for signal input, to obtain digital signal samples directly from the WiNRADiO G3-series receiver demodulators.

Until now such applications required a secondary sound card or operating system assistance, depending on the particular case. The WiNRADiO Digital Bridge™ Virtual Sound Card offers several major advantages:

By eliminating sampling rates differences between the WiNRADiO receiver and the PC sound card, signal discontinuities due to buffer over/under runs are eliminated.

Signal degradation introduced due to double conversion (digital-to-analog and then again analog-to-digital) is eliminated. Sound card interconnecting cables are also gone.

CPU usage is decreased due to saved operating system resources which normally would have to be allocated when sharing the same sound card between two or more applications, affecting the demodulation process on slower computers.

The WiNRADiO Digital Bridge™ Virtual Sound Card ensures that the highest quality digital signal, exactly as provided by the receiver, is passed directly to the signal processing application.

Upon installation, the Digital Bridge™ Virtual Sound Card appears as another standard sound device available under Windows:

On the receiver side, the digitized signals can be passed to the Digital Bridge™ Virtual Sound Card in the G3-series receiver's Demodulator Setup facility.

There is a provision to select either digitized audio signal (useful for numerous third-party decoders which rely on the availability of demodulated audio), or digitized intermediate frequency signal (suitable for applications which provide their own demodulation, such as for example the Dream DRM demodulator/decoder).

There are two versions of WiNRADiO Digital Bridge™ Virtual Sound Card: One supports legacy operating systems Windows 98, ME, 2000 and XP (32 bit), and a separate version supporting newer versions of Windows: 2000, XP, Vista (both 32 and 64 bit), Windows 7, 8, 10 and 11.

Both versions support the WiNRADiO G303/G305, G313/G315, G31DDC, G33DDC, G35DDC, G39DDC, G65DDC and G69DDC receivers. Note: The Professional Demodulator option is required for the Virtual Sound Card to work with the G303 and G305 receivers.

The WiNRADiO Digital Bridge™ Virtual Sound Card provides a neat and convenient connection between a software-defined radio receiver and a signal processing application. Gone are the messy, noise and interference introducing interconnection cables and wires of yesteryear gone is distortion caused by double D/A - A/D conversion, gone are signal drop-outs caused by uneven sampling frequencies, and gone is excessive CPU load!
